Abstract

Technology, which has evolved over time, plays a crucial role in human
development. Gadgets are one of the most advanced communication tools today.
Gadget addiction is a preoccupation with gadgets, accompanied by a lack of control,
and has negative impacts on individuals, one of which is poor sleep quality.
This study aims to determine the relationship between gadget addiction and sleep
quality in adolescents at SMPN 2 Sedong, Cirebon Regency, with a sample size of
224.
This study used quantitative methods and was a cross-sectional study with
purposive sampling technique. The population of 224 students was 70 students,
with the Slovin formula used as a sample. The instruments used were the SAS
questionnaire and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) using an ordinal scale.
The chi-square test was used for analysis
Based on the results of the analysis in this study, it can be concluded that the results
of the analysis using the Smartphone Addiction Scale Short Version (SAS-SV)
showed a high level of gadget addiction with 47 respondents (67.1%). Then the
results of the interpretation with PSQI, the majority of respondents had poor sleep
quality scores, namely 41 respondents (58.6%). There is a significant relationship
between gadget addiction and sleep quality in adolescents at SMPN 2 Sedong,
Cirebon Regency, with a P-value of 0.000 (P <0.5).
