THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND OBESITY INCIDENCE IN WORKERS AT PT KAI DAOP III CIREBON

Obesity has become a serious health problem, with increasing prevalence in various
countries, including Indonesia. Obesity is also associated with decreased work productivity
and increased absenteeism. Factors that influence obesity in addition to nutritional
knowledge are physical activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship
between physical activity and the incidence of obesity in workers at PT KAI Daop 3
Cirebon. This study aims to determine the Relationship between Physical Activity and the
Incidence of Obesity in Workers in the PT KAI Daop 3 Cirebon Work Area
The type of research used in this study is a quantitative method with an observational
design. To determine the Relationship between Physical Activity and Obesity in Workers
at PT. KAI Daop 3 Cirebon. The population in this study was 1,175 workers. The sample
in this study was taken using simple random sampling of 93 workers. The data analysis
used was univariate data analysis and bivariate analysis using the chi square test.
The results of the study showed that 70 (75.3%) workers with low physical activity and
were obese. The results of the analysis using the chi square test with a p value = 0.000
meaning a value of 0.000 <α (0.05). In this study H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted
which means that there is a relationship between Physical Activity and Obesity in Workers
at PT. KAI Daop 3 Cirebon. It is hoped that workers at PT. KAI Daop 3 Cirebon regarding
the importance of physical activity and utilizing the time before or after work to do light
exercise so that they can avoid the risk of obesity.
