Abstract

The emergency room as the first line in hospitals that accept patients, can also be
a reflection of hospital services in general that accept patients with
characteristics that require fast and precise help. Therapeutic communication is
a way that is done as a nurse to provide the best service for patients. The
research design used in this study was cross sectional. The results of the analysis
of 96 respondents were obtained, most of the 67 respondents (70%) received
excellent therapeutic communication. It was obtained that 46 respondents (68%)
were very satisfied and 21 respondents (32%) were satisfied. The results of the
spearman rank statistical test obtained a p value of 0.004, then H1 was accepted
meaning "there is a significant relationship between therapeutic communication
and patient satisfaction in the emergency room of Mitra Plumbon Hospital.
With a correlation coefficient of 0.286, this means that it shows the strength of
the relationship is quite strong and unidirectional. This means that the better the
nurse's therapeutic communication, the higher the level of patient satisfaction. It
is expected that nurses can improve therapeutic communication in order to
increase patient satisfaction by being polite, introducing themselves before
interaction, explaining goals when it comes to patients
