Abstract
The incidence of hypertension in Indonesia reaches 36%. According to the Indonesian

hypertension in West Java province based on data from 2019 to 2021, according to the

people, there was an increase of 10.39%. One of the impacts of hypertension in the
elderly is sleep quality. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship
between sleep quality and blood pressure in elderly hypertensive patients in the working
area of the Gebang Health Center, Cirebon Regency.
The research method used was descriptive correlational with a cross-sectional approach.
Sampling used purposive sampling technique, determining samples that had been
considered, totaling 79 respondents. The instrument used in this study was the Pittsburgh
Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. The statistical test used was Spearman Rho.
This research was conducted in the working area of the Gebang Health Center, Cirebon
Regency, from April 18, 2025, to April 22, 2025.\
The results of this study showed that the majority of respondents experienced poor sleep
quality, with 51 respondents (64.6%), and those who experienced good sleep quality were
28 respondents (35.4%). Based on the Spearman Rho test results with a p-value of 0.000
(<0.005), Ha was accepted, meaning there is a relationship between sleep quality and
blood pressure in elderly hypertensive patients in the working area of the Gebang Health
Center, Cirebon Regency, with a moderate correlation coefficient value and a positive
direction. The poorer the sleep quality, the higher the blood pressure.
