THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAMILY SUPPORT AND AXIENTY LEVELS IN ELDERLY HYPERTENSIVES IN THE WORKING AREA OF THE PASALEMAN PUBLIC HEALRTH CENTER CIREBON REGENCY

As we get older, there will be changes in the structure and function of cells
and tissues and organ systems. In the elderly the body’s immune fuction decreases
including decreased hearh function one of which is hypertension. Hypertension
does not only have an impact on the physical but psychologically a person suffering
from hypertension will feel anxious, unable to control his emotions when the
individuals psychological state is low then a serious threat is depression and
anxiety. The family is the main support system in maintaining health, the family is
considered to be able to choose an important influence in helping solve sroblems
related to life difficulties such as reducing anxienty. The purpose of this study was
to determine the relationship between family support and axienty levels in the
elderly with hypertension in the working area of the Pasaleman Public Health
Center Cirebon Regency. This study uses a quantitative research design with a
correlational descriptive method and s cross sectional appoarch, the instrument
used is a questionnaire.
White the results of univariate analysis with the category of lacking family
support, namely 35 respondents (77,8%) and the level of severe axienty, namely 20
respondents (44,4%) of the total 45 respondents. Spearman rank test results
obtained p-value = 0,000 <a = 0,01 then H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted so
it can be concluded that there is a relationship between family support and axienty
levels in elderly hypertensives in the work area of the Pasaleman Public Helth
Center Cirebon Regency.
