Abstract

Anxiety is a normal condition if it is at a mild and moderate level, but it will cause
problems if it is already at a severe level and panic. One of the factors that affect
anxiety in students is a decrease in students' academic achievement scores.
Academic achievement is the result achieved by a person when doing certain tasks
or activities. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between anxiety
levels and students' academic achievement.
The study used a quantitative research design using a correlational descriptive
method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample of this study consisted of 76
respondents of grade VIII students of SMPN 1 Arjawinangun Cirebon, sampling by
simple random sampling, the instruments used were questionnaires and data
analysis using the spearman rho statistical test with a significance value of 0.05.
The results of the study showed that most of the respondents who had anxiety levels
from 76 respondents had normal anxiety as many as 19 respondents (25.0%), severe
as many as 17 respondents (22.4%), moderate as many as 16 respondents (21.1%),
very severe as many as 14 respondents (18.4%) and mild as many as 10 respondents
(13.2%). The p-value in the spearman rho test is 0.001. Because the p-Value of
0.001 (< 0.005) shows that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, it means that there
is a relationship between anxiety level and academic achievement in junior high
school students at SMPN 1 Arjawinangun, Cirebon Regency.
