Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a condition in which a person experiences
an increase in blood pressure above normal over a long period of time. One of the
factors that influences hypertension is the diet. The aim of this study is to find out
the relationship between dietary patterns and the occurrence of hypertension in
the elderly in the Puskesmas Mandirancan.
The type of research is quantitative research with correlational design. The
sampling in this study uses Non-probality Sampling with the purposive sampling
approach, i.e. a methode for determining samples with consideration or some
criteria. The time for this study is in June 2024.
Dietary patterns in the elderly in the Mandirancan puskesmas mostly fall into the
category sufficient (66.7%). 2. incidence of hypertension in the elders in the
mandirancan Puskesma Mostly fall in the category mild (53.8%) The results of
the statistical test using the chi square test were p=0,004. It can be concluded that
there is a relationship between dietary patterns and the occurrence of
hypertension in the elderly.
Recommendation for the elderly with hypertension to be able to apply the
recommended diet so that blood pressure is controlled and prevent the occurrence
of complications from uncontrolled hypertensive.
