Abstract

Puberty is a crucial period in adolescent development, marked by physical,
psychological, and emotional changes that can trigger anxiety, especially in young
women. Social support from parents is a crucial factor in helping adolescents navigate
puberty better.
This study aims to determine the relationship between parental social support
and adolescent girls' anxiety regarding the physical changes of puberty.
The study used a quantitative approach, with a population of all seventh-grade
female students at SMPN 1 Talun, Cirebon Regency, and a sample size of 100
respondents.
Univariate analysis showed that 11% of respondents received good parental
social support, 39% received sufficient support, and 50% received insufficient support.
Anxiety levels were 12% in the normal category, 64% experienced mild anxiety, and
24% experienced severe anxiety. The Spearman rank test yielded a significance value
of ρ = 0.000 (ρ < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between parental social
support and adolescent girls' anxiety regarding physical changes during puberty at
SMPN 1 Talun, Cirebon Regency.
The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant relationship between
parental support and adolescent girls' anxiety regarding physical changes during
puberty.
