Abstract

Diabetic ulcer is one of the complications of Diabetes Mellitus due to peripheral
blood vessel disorders and neuropathy. Diabetic ulcer complications are disturbing
situations and can trigger stress that can affect the wound healing process. The
purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between stress levels and the
healing process of diabetic ulcers in patients at Ciremai Hospital, Cirebon City.

This study used a quantitative method using a correlational design with a cross-
sectional approach. The population was patients with diabetic ulcers at Ciremai

Hospital, Cirebon City, totaling 142 people and the sampling technique used the
accidental sampling technique totaling 59 respondents. The instruments used were
questionnaires and data analysis using the rho sperm test.
The results of the study obtained that most respondents had moderate stress levels of
30 respondents (50.8%) and most respondents had almost healed ulcer healing
process criteria of 33 respondents (59.9%). Statistical tests showed a significant

relationship between stress levels and the healing process of diabetic ulcers with a p-
value <,001 and a correlation coefficient of -762, indicating a negative relationship

with strong strength. Based on these results, it can be concluded that stress levels are
significantly related to the ulcer healing process in patients with type 2 diabetes
mellitus at Ciremai City Hospital.
