Abstract
The prevalence of chronic kidney failure increased from 2% in 2013 to 3.8% in
2018, with a total of 713,783 patients. In West Java, the number of active
hemodialysis patients increased by 33,828 cases each year. The issues faced by
hemodialysis patients are very complex, making it essential to enhance selfmanagement, psychoreligious therapy, and family support. This study aims to
explore the relationship between family support and the spiritual needs of chronic
kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at RSUD Waled, Cirebon Regency.
The method used is a descriptive correlation with a cross-sectional approach,
involving 56 respondents selected through total sampling techniques. The research
instruments consist of a family support questionnaire and the Spiritual Needs
Questionnaire (SpNQ) to measure spiritual needs. The statistical test used is
Spearman's rho. The study was conducted from March 21 to March 23, 2025.
The results indicate that the majority of family support is categorized as moderate
(62.5%), followed by low (16.1%) and high (21.4%). Meanwhile, the majority of
spiritual needs are unmet (19.6%) and met (80.4%). The Spearman's rho test shows
a p-value of 0.000 (<0.005), indicating a significant relationship between family
support and the spiritual needs of patients, with a strong positive correlation
coefficient. These findings emphasize the importance of family support in enhancing
the emotional and spiritual well-being of hemodialysis patients.
