Abstract

Anxiety is caused by various states of worry, restlessness, fear, restlessness accompanied by
various physical complaints and physical disorders. One of the risk factors for hypertension is
anxiety. The number of elderly people with hypertension in the Pancalang Health Center work
area, Kuningan Regency in 2024 was 610. The purpose of this study was to determine the
relationship between anxiety levels and hypertension in the elderly in the Pancalang Health
Center Work Area, Kuningan Regency.
This research method is descriptive correlation using a cross-sectional approach. The sample
of this study was the elderly in the Pancalang Health Center work area totaling 86 respondents
using a simple purposive sampling technique using the Geriatric Anxiety Scale (GAS) and
hypertension observation sheets. Data analysis using the Spearman Rank test.
The results of the study showed that most (81.4%) respondents experienced moderate anxiety
levels and more than half (64%) of respondents had level I hypertension. The results of the
Spearman rank test showed a significant, strong and positive relationship between anxiety
levels and hypertension in the elderly (p = 0.0001; a-0.05; r-0.75),
Suggestions for this study can pay attention to the elderly, can develop elderly programs
including posbindu coaching, elderly exercise activities, group activity therapy, counseling and
education for the elderly.
