Abstract

WHO data (2018) states that 80% of female adolescents experience menstrual
cycle irregularities. Nasution's study (2010) states that 23.7% of students who are
stressed also experience menstrual disorders compared to 0.7% of students who are not
stressed. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship
between stress and the menstrual cycle of female students in grade XI of SMA Negeri 1
Plumbon in 2025.
This study uses quantitative research in the form of correlation analysis and uses
a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study was 75 people. The sampling technique
in this study used the Proportional Random Sampling technique. This research instrument
used a questionnaire. Univariate analysis used frequency distribution and bivariate
analysis used Spearman's rank correlation.
The results of the stress level study showed that out of 75 respondents, 57 female
students (76.0%) experienced moderate stress levels, 18 female students (24.0%)
experienced high stress levels. 75 respondents, 33 female students (44.0%) experienced
normal menstrual cycles, 42 female students (56.0%) experienced abnormal menstrual

cycles. The results of the Spearman rank statistical test obtained a significant level or p-
value (0.001) much lower than the significant standard of 0.05 or (p a) with a correlation

coefficient of 0.629, then Ha is accepted which means there is a relationship between
stress levels and menstrual cycles in grade XI female students at SMA Negeri 1 Plumbon
with a strong level of relationship strength or correlation.
The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between stress levels
and menstrual cycles in grade XI female students at SMA Negeri 1 Plumbon.
