Abstract

Dental and oral health problems in children remain quite high, primarily due to improper
tooth-brushing techniques. This is related to a lack of knowledge and habits of maintaining
dental hygiene from an early age. This study aims to determine the correct tooth-brushing
techniques among students at the Al-Munawwar Lemahsugih Islamic Boarding School in
Majalengka Regency.
The research used a quantitative descriptive. The sample consisted of 30 children aged 7–
12 years old, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through
observation using an observation sheet, then analyzed univariately. The results showed that
most respondents still did not brush their teeth correctly, namely 28 children (93.3%), while
only 2 children (6.66%) had brushed their teeth according to the correct steps.
The conclusion of this study is that children's tooth-brushing skills are still very low.
Therefore, parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals need to guide and instill in
children proper tooth-brushing practices.
