Abstract

Menarche is a significant phase in the life of adolescent girls and often causes
anxiety, especially when they lack sufficient knowledge about menstruation. This
study aims to determine the relationship between health education about
menstruation and the level of anxiety in facing menarche among sixth grade
female students at SDN Taman Kalijaga Permai, Cirebon City. This research

employed a quantitative design using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-
posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 students selected using total sampling.

The instrument used was a questionnaire based on the Hamilton Anxiety Rating
Scale (HARS). The results showed a significant decrease in anxiety levels after the
provision of health education on menstruation (p < 0.05). In conclusion, there is a
significant relationship between health education on menstruation and anxiety
levels in facing menarche. Therefore, providing reproductive health education at
the elementary school level is essential to enhance students' mental readiness and
reduce anxiety related to menarche.
