Abstract

The prevalence of anemia among adolescent girls in Cirebon Regency reached
4,800 in 2024. To address and prevent anemia, the government implemented a
program to provide iron supplement tablets once a week. Knowledge enhancement
is aimed at improving adherence to iron supplement tablet consumption among
adolescent girls. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge
about anemia and adherence to iron supplement tablet consumption among
adolescent girls. This research method used a quantitative cross-sectional approach.
The instrument used was a questionnaire. The population was all 10th and 11th
grade female students at MAN 1 Cirebon. The sampling technique used was simple
random sampling, with a sample size of 84 students.
The results showed that 64 respondents (76.2%) had insufficient knowledge about

anemia among adolescent girls, and 48 respondents (57.1%) were considered non-
compliant with iron supplement tablet consumption. The chi-square test yielded a

p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). This means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted,
indicating a significant relationship between knowledge levels about anemia and
adherence to iron supplementation (Fe) among female students at MAN 1 Cirebon.
The results of this study are expected to encourage iron supplementation programs
and provide education or counseling to female students regarding the importance
of anemia management and prevention.
