Abstract

The manufacturing industry sector is one of the sectors with high rates of accidents
and occupational diseases, one of which is low back pain. Low back pain is a complaint
often experienced by workers due to repetitive and non-ergonomic work activities for
a long time. One of the factors that contributes to the incidence of low back pain is the
length of service. This study aims to determine the relationship between length of
service and the incidence of low back pain in workers in the finishing section at PT.
Arteria Daya Mulia, Cirebon City. This type of research uses a quantitative approach
with a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study amounted to 64 pekerjats with
a sampling technique using simple random sampling. The instrument used was a
questionnaire The Pain And Distress Scale Likert scale to measure the incidence of
low back pain. The results of the statistical test in this study using the Fisher’s Exact
Test showed a p-value of 0.000 which means p-value ≤ 0.05, so Ho is rejected. Thus,
there is a significant relationship between work period and the incidence of low back
pain in workers in the finishing tate section at PT. Arteria Daya Mulia, Cirebon City.
This study shows the importance of attention to ergonomic factors and length of work
period in efforts to prevent low back pain in the manufacturing industry sector.
Keywords: work period, low back pain.
