Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic airborne disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium
tuberculosis. There is an increased case finding coverage in 2024 with a total of 195 cases.
The physical environment of the house is the most determining factor for the increase of
tuberculosis disease, thus affecting the health status in an area. This study was conducted
to determine the relationship between the Physical Environment of the House and
Tuberculosis in the Kesunean Health Center Working Area, Cirebon City. This study is a
quantitative study using observational analytic method with cross sectional research design.
The sample in this study amounted to 66 samples using simple random sampling technique.
The instrument in this study used an observation sheet by measuring the physical
environment of the house using measuring instruments (roll meter, lux meter, hygrometer,
thermometer) and to determine Tuberculosis using medical record documents. Data
analysis used chi-square test with a significance value of α = 0.05.
The results of the research ethical test were declared “Ethically Feasible” by KEPK ITEKes
Mahardika.
This study found that 46 respondents (49.7%) had an unqualified home physical
environment and 50 respondents (75.8%) had negative BTA tuberculosis. The results of the
chi-square test obtained p-value = 0.001 less than α = 0.05, so there is a significant
relationship between the physical environment of the house with tuberculosis in the
Kesunean Health Center Working Area, Cirebon City. The community can increase
knowledge by attending socialization or counseling about tuberculosis disease and a
healthy physical home environment in order to implement clean and healthy behavior to
prevent transmission of tuberculosis disease.
