Abstract
Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is an acute infection that lasts less than 14 days,
caused by microorganisms that infect the respiratory tract, starting from the nose, ears,
larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, to the lungs. The high burden of ARI disease is likely
related to air quality in the area, especially humidity and indoor air temperature. The
purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between humidity and indoor air
temperature with the incidence of ARI in children in the Working Area of the Nelayan
Health Center, Cirebon City.
This research method uses quantitative research with an analytical cross-sectional
design with an observational approach. The instrument used is an observation and
measurement sheet. The population is 487 children aged 0-9 years who have suffered from
ARI in the past year who live in the Working Area of the Nelayan Health Center, Cirebon
City. The sampling technique in this study used simple random sampling with a sample size
of 83 people. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test.
The results of the study showed that indoor air humidity was related to the
incidence of ISPA in children (p-value = 0,008 <0,05), indoor air temperature was related
to the incidence of ISPA in children (p-value = 0,027 <0,05). The results of this study
suggest that the public should pay attention to proper ventilation in the house, opening all
windows wide so that the room temperature or humidity is maintained.
