Abstract

Hypertension is one of the common health problems in the elderly which is
characterized by arterial blood vessels experiencing increased blood pressure.
Physical activity is the main cause of cardiovascular diseases such as
hypertension. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between
physical activity and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly at the
Intergrated Development Post In The Working Area Of The Kesambi Health
Center Cirebon City.
The type of research in this study quantitative using a cross sectional
approach.the population in this study were all elderly people with hypertension
who actively participated in Posbindu activities in the Kesambi Health Center
Working Area. The sampling technique was total sampling with a total of 53
respondemnts. Data were collected using the GPAQ (Global Physical Activity
Questionnaire) and blood pressure observation sheets. Data analysis with the
Spearman Rank test.
The result of the study showed that most elderly people with light physical
activity experienced grade 2 hypertension. The result of statistical tests showed a
significant relationship between the level of physical activity and the incidence of
hypertension in the elderly with a p value = 0,000 (p<0,05).
It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between physical
activity and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly at The Intergrated
Development Post In The Working Area Of The Kesambi Health Center Cirebon
City. It is hoped that
