Abstract

The waste problem in the school environment is an important issue that affects students’ health and learning comfort. This research aims to determine the relationship between students’ knowledge and their waste disposal behavior at SD Negeri Kebonbaru 2, Cirebon City. This study used a quantitative method with an analytic cross-sectional approach. A total of 60 students were selected using accidental sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires consisting of knowledge and behavior aspects, and then analyzed using the chi-square test.
The results showed that most students had good knowledge (85%) and good waste disposal behavior (56.7%). Statistical test results indicated a significant relationship between students’ level of knowledge and their waste disposal behavior (p = 0.000).
This study concludes that increasing students’ knowledge through hygiene education can encourage the development of better waste disposal behavior. Schools are expected to continue strengthening environmental education efforts to create a culture of cleanliness in the school environment.
