Abstract
The incidence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in the Sidamulya community is quite high.
One important contributing factor is irregular eating patterns. This irregularity can
negatively impact health, particularly in regulating blood sugar levels and body
metabolism. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between
eating patterns and the incidence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in the Sidamulya
Community Health Center (Puskesmas) area, Cirebon Regency. This study used a
cross-sectional design. The instrument used was a questionnaire, with a sample size
of 57 participants. The sampling technique used was total sampling, using
univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test.
The results of the study showed that most respondents had irregular eating patterns, as
many as 37 people (64.9%) and most of the Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus cases of respondents
were not complicated, as many as 48 people (84.2%). The results of the statistical test with
the Fisher’s Exat Test showed a p value = 0.020 ≤ α (0.05) meaning that there was a
significant relationship between eating patterns and the incidence of Type 2 Diabetes
Mellitus in the working area of the Sidamulya Health Center, Cirebon Regency.
It is hoped that the community health center will be more intensive in providing
education and outreach to the community regarding dietary patterns in preventing
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, especially for people who still have irregular
eating patterns.
