Abstract
Hemoglobin is a protein substance that contains red blood cells and erythrocytes,
if hemoglobin levels are low, it has the potential to cause anemia. The prevalence of anemia
in Indonesia in the adolescent group aged 13 to 18 years is 23% in female adolescents and
17% in male adolescents. One of the factors that causes low hemoglobin levels is poor diet.
This study aims to determine the relationship between diet and hemoglobin levels in female
adolescents in the Kedawung Health Center Working Area, Cirebon Regency.
This type of research is quantitative cross sectional with the Spearman Rank test
method. The population in this study were all female students of MTs Islamic Center in
2025. The sampling technique used non-probability sampling technique, namely total
sampling obtained 51 respondents. Data collection using questionnaires and digital Hb
measuring devices.
The results showed that the majority of 32 (62.7%) female adolescents had poor
diet with low hemoglobin levels. The results of the Spearman Rank correlation test obtained
a p-value of 0.000 <α 0.05 and the direction was positive.
The results of the study showed a significant relationship between diet and
hemoglobin levels. The direction of the positive correlation coefficient indicates that the
better the diet, the more sufficient the hemoglobin levels. It is hoped that health workers
can provide information on nutritional intake for adolescent girls to reduce the risk of
anemia.
