THE EFFECT OF COUNSELING ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF FOOD SANITATION HYGIENE BY FOOD HANDLERS IN THE CANTEEN OF PT. ARTERIA DAYA MULIA CIREBON CITY

The implementation of food hygiene and sanitation is an effort to control risk factors for food contamination, whether originating from food, people, places, or equipment, to ensure safe consumption. The success of this process is determined by conducting outreach programs.
Outreach programs are a promotional learning process aimed at increasing knowledge and improving behavior, as well as fostering healthy behaviors in daily life, particularly regarding the application of food hygiene and sanitation.
This study employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest and posttest design. The population in this study was 40 food handlers. Sampling was conducted using total sampling. Data were obtained through direct observation before and after the outreach program. Data analysis used univariate analysis using descriptive frequencies and bivariate analysis using paired t-tests. The results of the observations before the outreach program yielded an average score of 45.00. After the outreach program, the score increased to an average score of 80.50. The results of the paired t-test showed a p-value of 0.000 with a significance value (2-tailed) <0.05. This result indicates that Ho is rejected, meaning that there is an effect of education on the implementation of food hygiene and sanitation by food handlers in the PT. Arteria Daya Mulia canteen in Cirebon City. This study is expected to provide a basis for canteen managers in providing education to food handlers to improve the implementation of food hygiene and sanitation in the canteen.
