THE EFFECT OF HEALTH EDUCATION THROUGH AUDIO-VISUAL MEDIA ON INCREASING STUDENTS' KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HIV/AIDS AT SMK MODEL PATRIOT IV CIAWIGEBANG

HIV is a virus that causes a decreased immune system and AIDS is a set of symptoms
due to the HIV virus that gives up a person for approximately 5-10 years. Population
data on HIV/AIDS cases from the last 2 years in Kuningan Regency alone increased by
almost 75% from 2020-2022. The purpose of this study was conducted to determine
whether there is an effect of health education through audio-visual media on increasing
students' knowledge about HIV/AIDS at SMK Model Patriot IV Ciawigebang.
This research method uses descriptive quantitative with one group pre-test & post-test
design for 3 days. The population in this study amounted to 43 respondents consisting of
classes X and XI, the sample in this researcher used total sampling technique. Data
collection using a closed questionnaire sheet. Statistical test using t-test.
The results obtained knowledge before PENKES on day-1 as many as 42 respondents
or 98% get a value (Less) and after PENKES as many as 23 respondents or 53% get a
value (Less), on day-2 before PENKES as many as 33 respondents or 77% get a value

(Fair) and after PENKES as many as 25 respondents or 58% get a value (Good), on day-
3 before PENKES as many as 26 respondents or 60% get a value (Good) and after

PENKES as many as 40 respondents or 93% get a value (Very Good).
The conclusion is that there is an effect of health education through audio-visual
media on increasing student knowledge about HIV / AIDS at SMK Model Patriot IV
Ciawigebang, as evidenced by the p value = 0.027. Suggestions for schools can add
learning activities about HIV / AIDS.
