Abstract

Background : Chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis often face
difficulties in controlling their fluid intake restriction, which can eventually result
in therapy failure and decreased quality of life. In this case, fluid intake restriction
for patients with chronic kidney disease becomes a very important action.
Purpose : To determine the relationship between family support and compliance
with fluid intake restriction in chronic kidney failure patients at Mitra Plumbon
Hospital Cirebon.
Method : This type of research is a quantitative research using a correlational
descriptive method with a cross sectional approach. Sampling uses a nonprobability sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. The data analysis
used to measure family support and fluid intake adherence in CKD patients
undergoing hemodialysis therapy was used the Guttman scale and the Likert
scale. The data collection instruments used in this study are in the form of a family
support questionnaire and a fluid intake restriction compliance questionnaire. The
sampling time was carried out for 3 days with 1 session on the first and second
days, namely 17.00 to 19.00, and 2 sessions on the second day, namely the first
session at 13.00 to 14.00 and the second session at 17.00 to 19.00. Data collection
was carried out in the Hemodialysis room with the help of peers to distribute
questionnaires to patients who met the inclusion criteria. Questionnaires are
distributed simultaneously at the same time with a maximum time of 30 minutes
and if there are patients who need help, the researcher collaborates with peers to
help in how to fill in. The data analysis used was a chi-square test.
Results : The chi-square test results for the relationship between family support
and compliance with fluid intake restriction in chronic kidney failure patients
undergoing hemodialysis at Mitra Plumbon Hospital Cirebon showed a p-value of
0.002.xi
Conclusion : There is a relationship between family support and compliance with
fluid intake restriction in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis
at Mitra Plumbon Hospital Cirebon.
