THE RELATIONSHIP OF FAMILY SUPPORT WITH QUALITY OFLIFE PATIENTS ON CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE HEMODIALYSIS IN MITRA PLUMBON HOSPITAL CIREBON

Hemodialysis in the long term must face various problems including finances,
difficulty working, decreased sexual desire, depression, fear of death, lifestyle that
must change, and certainly affect one's enthusiasm for life. Patients who undergo
hemodialysis experience a decrease in their enthusiasm for life because the
changes that must be faced affect their quality of life including physical health,
psychological condition, spiritual, social economic status and family dynamics. In
patients undergoing hemodialysis, quality of life is very important, because with
family support, patients will be more relaxed in going through the process they
have to go through, where the family functions as a support system, always ready
to provide help if needed. This study used a cross-sectional quantitative study of
chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at Mitra Plumbon
Hospital, Cirebon. Samples were taken randomly for 3 weeks. Respondents were
asked to fill out a questionnaire. Chi square test with a significant value of α =
0.05 was used for data analysis. KEPK ITEKes Mahardika stated that the results
of the research ethics test were "Ethically Appropriate". The results of this study
obtained family support in the good category (64.5%) and the poor category
(35.5%) while the quality of life was in the good category (53.9%) and the poor
category (46.1%). The results of the hypothesis with a significant value give a ρ
value (0.000) < α (0.05) which means that there is a relationship between family
support and quality of life of chronic kidney failure patients undergoing
hemodialysis at Mitra Plumbon Hospital Cirebon. Therefore, family support is
very important for patients with kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis, so that
their quality of life is maintained.
