THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING AND THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF CANCER PATIENTS IN THE CHEMOTHERAPY ROOM OF THE MITRA PLUMBON CIREBON HOSPITAL

Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells divide without control, attack
other tissues, and spread to other parts of the body through the blood and lymph
systems. Diagnosis and cancer treatment can cause various spiritual problems that
result in a decrease in the quality of life of cancer patients. The purpose of this
study is to determine the relationship between spiritual well-being and the quality
of life of cancer patients in the chemotherapy room of the Mitra Plumbon Cirebon
Hospital.
The type of research uses quantitative research with a correlational
descriptive research design with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this
study was cancer patients in the chemotherapy room of the Mitra Plumbon Cirebon,
and sampling techniques using the accidental sampling method included as many
as 30 people. Data collection using a questionnaire Data analysis was carried out
using univariate analysis with a bivariate percentage and the Chi Square (2) test.
The results showed that most of the respondents (60%) had good spiritual
well-being, and most of the respondents (53.3%) had a good quality of life. The
results of the Chi Square statistical test (2) obtained at value = 0.011 <α (0.05)
showed that Ha was accepted, meaning there was a relationship between spiritual
well-being and the quality of life of cancer patients in the chemotherapy room of
the Mitra Plumbon Cirebon Hospital.
Nurses are expected to provide education about spiritual needs for cancer
patients in an ef ort to ensure that patients have full expectations, optimism, and
positive thinking.
