Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus disease in Indonesia is a health problem that is quite
alarming but attention to the handling of Diabetes Mellitus in developing countries
is still lacking, especially about the complications caused by Diabetes Mellitus.
Various therapies have been developed for the treatment of Diabetes Mellitus, diet
being one of the important components in it. This study aims to determine the
relationship between dietary compliance and the incidence of complications in
patients with Diabetes Mellitus.
This study is a descriptive study with a cross sectional approach. The
population in this study was 81 people with incidental sampling of 45 respondents
who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection was carried out using
a dietary compliance questionnaire and a complication incidence checklist sheet.
The results showed that most of the respondents 66.7% had a category of
non-adherence to the diet, and about 66.7% of respondents with complications.
using the Spearman Rho test obtained a p value of 0.000. There is a relationship
between diet compliance and the incidence of complications in Diabetes Mellitus
patients at Gunung Jati General Hospital, Cirebon City.
It is expected that health workers continue to motivate and educate people
with diabetes about diabetes and dietary compliance through counseling activities.
