THE CORRELATION BETWEEN ANXIETY LEVELS AND SELF ESTEEM ON PEOPLE WITH HIV AT MITRA PLUMBON HOSPITAL CIREBON REGENCY

Human Immunodeficiency virus is a virus that infects white blood cells and causes a
decrease in human immunity. Psychologically, people with HIV can experience
psychological distress, including low self-esteem and anxiety. The main goal of this
research is to know the Correlation of Anxiety Level with Self Esteem to people with HIV
in Mitra Plumbon Hospital Polyclinic Cirebon District.
This researh is a descriptive correlation study with cross sectional approach. There are 23
respondent with accidental sampling. The level of anxiety measured by DASS 21
questiosner and RSES to measured self esteem. The correlation coefficient analyzed by
spearman rank.
Based on the analyzed result, there are 56,5% respondents were on normal anxiety and
13,0% respondent were on mild anxiety and then 65,2% respondents had low self esteem
and 34,8% had moderate self esteem. Baaed on spearman rank analysed result, there are
no Correlation of Anxiety Level with Self Esteem to people with HIV in Mitra Plumbon
Hospital Polyclinic Cirebon District with p-value 0,394 > 0,05.
Patients are advised to be able to motivate themselves by creating positive perceptions
regarding their illness.
