Abstract

Compliance of patients undergoing hemodialysis can affect the quality of life of patients
with kidney failure where there is a decrease in kidney function, the role of the nurse is
an integral part of health services, based on nursing knowledge and tips, in the form of
comprehensive bio-psycho-social-spiritual- services for patients with kidney failure who
undergo hemodialysis therapy, in this case nurses are required to play a role in
returning patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy to be able to carry out their
functions, maintain their quality of life and remain enthusiastic in adherence to
undergoing hemodialysis therapy. This study was conducted to identify a relationship
between the role of the nurse and the compliance of hemodialysis patients undergoing
hemodialysis therapy at the hospital.
This study used a quantitative cross sectional study on hemodialysis patients undergoing
hemodialysis therapy at Mitra Plumbon Hospital, Cirebon. Samples were taken by
accidental sampling for one month. Respondents were asked to fill out a questionnaire
sheet. The instrument used is a questionnaire sheet. Data analysis used the Spearman
test with a significance value of α = 0.05. The results of the research ethics test were
declared "Ethically Eligible" from KEPK ITEKes Mahardika.
The results showed that the role of nurses was in very good categories (35.39%), good
categories (50%), sufficient categories (14.71%) and less categories (0%) while the
level of adherence of Hemodialysis patients was in the non-adherent category (1% ), less
compliant category (69%), and compliant category (30%).
The results of the hypothesis test with a significance value of 0.05 obtained a ρ value
(0.023) <α (0.05) and an r value (0.276) < 1 and had a positive direction meaning that
the role of the nurse has an adequate and positive relationship with the level of
adherence of hemodialysis patients in the hemodialysis room at Mitra Plumbon
Hospital, Cirebon Regency in 2023. Therefore, the role of nurses is very important to
increase compliance in kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy to
maintain their quality of life.
