Abstract
Maintaining cleanliness during menstruation including using appropriate
sanitary napkins and washing the genital area properly is a very important
behavior. This action can have a positive impact on the health of adolescent girls.
To prevent diseases of the reproductive organs, it is very important to know about
how to lead a healthy menstrual life.
This research method employed quantitative descriptive design with a one
group pre-test & post-test design for 1 day. The population in this study consisted
of 40 respondents of class VIII. The researcher used a purposive sampling
technique. data collection was a closed questionnaire sheet. Statistical tests were
used in terms of the t-test.The research results showed that after being given
health education through audio visual media about personal hygiene during
menstruation, there was a very significant increase in the knowledge with the
highest score descriptions being 2 (5%, Very Good), 23 (57.5%, Good) and 15
(37). .5%, Enough)respondents.
The research results from before and after the implementation of health
education through audio-visual media reached a very significant increasement
with a p value of 0.000.
It can be concluded that the knowledge results after health education was
carried out through audio-visual media illustrated that health education could
increase students' knowledge about personal hygiene, which initially increased
their knowledge from low and was still not very good after carrying out this health
education.
