THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NUTRITIONAL STATUS AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN ELDERLY PEOPLE WITH HYPERTENSION AT ARJAWINANGUN HOSPITAL CIREBON DISTRICT

Nutritional status is a picture of the condition of the body as a result of the
utilization of nutrients from the food consumed. Nutritional status is an important
factor because it relates to intelligence, productivity, and creativity. Poor
nutritional status is a worrying phenomenon in the elderly and is often
underdiagnosed. Based on data according to Riskesdas, the percentage of the
nutritional status of elderly people in Indonesia who are underweight is 11.7% for
ages 60-64 years and 20.7% for ages over 65 years. Elderly with obesity nutritional
status at the age of 60-64 years are 19.3% and 11.9% respectively. This type of
research is a quantitative descriptive correlation study with a cross sectional
approach. Sampling using accidental sampling technique amounted to 50
respondents. Data analysis used the Spearman rank test.
The results showed that most of the respondents experienced normal nutritional
status as many as 23 respondents (46%), and most of the respondents had a
moderate quality of life as many as 40 respondents (80%). Spearman rank test
results obtained p-value 0.003 = <α (0.05) r = 0.417. So it can be concluded that
Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected so that there is a relationship between nutritional
status and quality of life in elderly people who experience hypertension at
Arjawinangun Hospital, Cirebon Regency.
