Abstract
The incidence of gastritis in the world is around 1.8-2.1 million of the population
per year, the incidence of gastritis in Southeast Asia is around 583,635 of the
population per year. The danger of gastritis if left for a long time will have a
health impact that will damage the function of the stomach and can increase the
risk of stomach cancer which can lead to death. Gastritis is inflammation of the
stomach lining which can cause pain in the pit of the stomach or upper abdomen.
One of the non-pharmacological management of gastritis can be done by making
small but frequent dietary adjustments, avoiding foods and drinks that can irritate
the stomach. This treatment is useful for controlling gastric function to avoid
irritation. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between
eating patterns and the incidence of gastritis in adolescents in the working area of
the Pondoh Health Center, Juntinyuat District, Indramayu Regency.
This type of research is quantitative research with analytic correlation design
using a cross sectional approach. The population and sample of this study were
adolescents who were treated at the Pondoh Health Center. Samples were taken
using accidental sampling. The instrument used was a questionnaire on diet and
the incidence of gastritis. Data analysis used the Spearman Correlation test.
The results of this study indicate that most of the 30 (76.9%) suffer from gastritis
suffer from an unhealthy diet. The results of the Spearman Rank Correlation Test
obtained a p-value of 0.001 < 0.01 where it is said that there is a relationship
between diet and the incidence of gastritis, a positive r (Correlation Coefficient)
value is obtained by having a moderate category of 0.431 so that the relationship
between the two variables is in the same direction, thus it can be interpreted that
a good diet in adolescents can reduce the risk of gastritis.
