Abstract
Abstract : The elderly is an age where problems occur in changes in physical and
psychological functions, so it is possible for the elderly to really need other
people, to support and assist in meeting their needs. Besides that, the self-
confidence or self-esteem of the elderly can be possessed if there is support from
the closest people such as friends, especially support from the family itself.
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family
emotional support and self-esteem in the elderly in Rw 06 Kecipir Health Center,
Brebes Regency.
This type of research is quantitative with a descriptive correlational method
using the Chi-square test. A total of 59 respondents with inclusion criteria will be
given a family emotional support questionnaire and a Rosenberg self-esteem
questionnaire. This research was conducted for 7 days.
The results showed that the emotional support of elderly families in Rwa 06
Kecipir Health Center Work Area, Brebes Regency was categorized as low by
35% and the self-esteem of the elderly was categorized as low by 55.9%. The
results of the chi-square test obtained a value (P = 0.000; <a 0.05).
Conclusion Ho was rejected, which means there is a relationship between family
emotional support and self-esteem in the elderly in Rw 06 Kecipir Health Center
Work Area, Brebes Regency.
