Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2020, the average
percentage of cesarean section sections of 1000 births worldwide ranged from 5-
15%. Based on the 2021 Indonesian Health report, the highest percentage of
exclusive breastfeeding coverage is found in West Nusa Tenggara Province
(82.4%), while in West Java itself breastfeeding coverage reaches 59.4%. The
purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between post sectio caesarea
pain and breastfeeding for post sectio caesarea mothers in inpatient room 3 of
Mitra Plumbon Hospital Cirebon in 2023.
This type of research uses quantitative research with a correlational
descriptive research design with a cross sectional approach. The population is all
post sectio caesarea patients in inpatient room 3 of Mitra Plumbon Hospital
Cirebon as many as 60 and sampling techniques using the purposive sampling
method as many as 38 people. Data were collected using breastfeeding
questionnaires and pain observation sheets. Bivariate analysis with chi square (χ2)
test will be conducted in June 2023.
The results showed that most felt moderate pain 18 respondents (47.4%)
and most respondents breastfed well, namely 21 respondents (55.3%). The results

of the chi square test of the relationship between pain and breastfeeding in post-
sectio caesarea mothers in Inpatient Room 3 of Mitra Plumbon Hospital in 2023

with a p-value = 0.027 (P < 0.05).
After the analysis, it was found that there was a relationship between pain
and breastfeeding in post-caesarean section mothers in inpatient room 3 Mitra
Plumbon Hospital Cirebon. It is expected that the hospital will be able to provide
training on lactation management for pregnant women during ANC at Mitra
Plumbon Hospital.
