Abstract

Hospitals are health service institutions that provide health services. The IKM
Survey at the West Java Provincial Hospital in 2023 showed an average dissatisfaction of
10.6 points, and the IKM Survey at the Cirebon City Hospital in 2023 showed an average
dissatisfaction of 12.5 points. A service is considered satisfactory if the service can meet
the needs and expectations of patients. One factor that can influence patient satisfaction is
nurse interpersonal communication. The purpose of this study was to determine the
relationship between nurse interpersonal communication and patient satisfaction in the
Lavender Room of the Sumber Kasih Hospital, Cirebon.
This type of research uses quantitative research with a descriptive correlational
research design with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was patients
in the Lavender Room of the Sumber Kasih Hospital, Cirebon, and the sampling technique
used the purposive sampling method with as many as 65 people. Data collection using a
questionnaire sheet. Data analysis was carried out using univariate analysis with
percentages and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test (χ²).
The results showed that most respondents (52.3%) had good interpersonal
communication and most respondents (61.5%) were satisfied. The results of the chi-square
statistical test (χ²) obtained a ρ value = 0.010 < α (0.05), indicating that Ha is accepted,
meaning there is a relationship between interpersonal communication between nurses and
patient satisfaction in the Lavender Room of Sumber Kasih Hospital, Cirebon.
It is expected that nurses can improve their abilities in being friendly, caring, and
willing to listen to patient complaints.
