Abstract

An appendectomy is a surgical procedure to remove an inflamed or infected vermiform
appendix. Helping patients reduce their pain is a top priority in nursing care. One nursing
intervention that can be provided is early mobilization of post-operative patients. Early mobilization
is a key factor in accelerating recovery and preventing post-surgical complications. The benefits of
early mobilization include increased blood circulation, which can lead to reduced pain, preventing
thrombophlebitis, providing nutrients for healing in the wound area, and improving kidney function..
The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between early mobilization and the
level of pain in post-appendictomy patients in the inpatient room 9 at the Mitra Plumbon Cirebon
Hospital.
The types of this research use quantitative research with a descriptive correlational design
with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were post-appendiktomy patients in
the inpatient room 9 at Mitra Plumbon Cirebon Hospital, and sampling techniques using the
accidental sampling method included as many as 68 people. Data collection was done using a
questionnaire sheet and a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) sheet. Data analysis was carried out using
univariate analysis with a bivariate percentage and the Chi Square (2) test.
The results showed that most respondents (67.6%) had good early mobilization,
and most of the respondents (54.4%) had mild pain. The results of the Chi Square statistical test (2)
obtained ρ value = 0,001 <α (0.05) showed that Ha was accepted, meaning there was a relationship
between early mobilization and the level of pain in post-appendictomy patients in the inpatient
room 9 at Mitra Plumbon Cirebon Hospital.
It is expected that nurses can provide education about mobilization or physical activity
that is useful for reducing post-surgical pain.
