Abstract

Worldwide, sleep problems range from 15.3% to 39.2%. Data from Indonesia shows
that more than 63% of adolescents have poor sleep quality. Several factors that
influence poor sleep quality among adolescents include the use of gadget devices. The
aim of this research is to determine the relationship between gadget use and sleep
quality in adolescents at SMPN 01 Losari. The type of research used is quantitative
research. The population consists of grade 9 students at SMP N 01 Losari in Brebes

district, and the sample size is 77 respondents. The results of this study, from the chi-
square statistical test, obtained a significant value of p-value = 0.000 < α = 0.05, which

means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, indicating that there is a relationship between
gadget use and sleep quality in adolescents at SMP N 01 Losari, Brebes district. The
higher the intensity of gadget use, the worse he quality of sleep of teenagers. Therefore,
teenagers mus be able to control their sleep. Which of course is accompanied by
monitoring from parents or people in the surrounding environment.
