RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DIET PATTERNS AND GASTRITIS SYMPTOMS LEVEL IN GRADE X STUDENTS OF SMAN I PABEDILAN, CIREBON DISTRICT

Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach lining that is often caused by irregular eating habits and
the consumption of unhealthy foods. Common symptoms include heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and
bloating. This study aims to identify the relationship between eating habits and the intensity of
gastritis symptoms in grade X students at SMAN 1 Pabedilan, Cirebon Regency.
This research uses a quantitative method with a correlational design and a cross-sectional approach.
The study population consists of all grade X students at SMAN 1 Pabedilan, with a sample of 178
respondents selected using total sampling technique. The research instrument is a questionnaire
divided into two sections: eating habits and the intensity of gastritis symptoms. The data were
analyzed using Spearman-Rank statistical tests.
The results show that the majority of students have poor eating habits (98 students, 55.1%) and
experience gastritis symptoms (92 students, 51.7%). The statistical test indicates a significant
relationship between eating habits and the intensity of gastritis symptoms with a p-value < 0.001
and a correlation coefficient of 0.444, indicating a positive relationship of moderate strength. Based
on these results, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between eating habits
and the severity of gastritis symptoms in grade X students at SMAN 1 Pabedilan.
