Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder characterized by relapses and requiring
long-term care. One of the key factors in the recovery process and relapse prevention is
family support. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and
relapse in schizophrenia patients in the working area of Gempol Public Health Center,
Cirebon Regency in 2025.
This research uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The
population consists of 39 family members who care for schizophrenia patients, selected
using the total sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed
with the Spearman Rank test.
The results showed that most respondents had moderate family support (82.1%) and
rare relapses (66.7%). The statistical test yielded a p-value = 0.010 (<0.05), indicating a
significant relationship between family support and relapse in schizophrenia patients.
It is recommended that the Public Health Center establish support groups for
patients and families to enhance social support and reduce the risk of relapse. A holistic,
family-based approach is essential to support the long-term recovery of schizophrenia
patients
