THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NURSE WORKLOAD AND RESPONSE TIME IN PATIENT CARE IN THE ER ROOM MITRA PLUMBON HOSPITAL CIREBON

Healthcare services are undergoing development in an effort to face the era of
globalization which demands high competition among private and government hospitals.
Nurses have a very large role and responsibility in the hospital. One of the duties or roles
of ED nurses is to perform triage for patients entering the ED, as well as the speed of
response time in providing assistance to emergency patients. This study aims to determine
the relationship between nurse workload and response time in handling patients in the ED
room of Mitra Plumbon Cirebon Hospital.
This research was conducted in the Emergency Departement (ED) of Mitra
Plumbon Cirebon Hospital. This research was conducted from Juny to July 2025. The
population in this study was all implementing nurses who handle patients in the ED room
of Mitra Plumbon Cirebon Hospital. This type of research is descriptive. The number of
samples in the study was 47 people. To obtain information from respondents, the
researcher used a questionnaire as a data collection tool.
Based on the results of statistical of statistical analysis using the Chi Square test
(ꭓ2) obtained p=0,689, where the p value is greater than α = 0,05, so H0 is accepted and
Ha is rejected.
The results of this study indicate that there is no significant relationship between
nurse workload and response time in the ED of Mitra Plumbon Cirebon Hospital. It is
recommended for Mitra Plumbon Hospital to conduct routine training related to time
management, rapid triage, and decision making in emergency conditions. Evaluate the
triage flow, registration, and initial patient handling to identify potential non-workload
barriers that slow down response time.
