Abstract

Family engagement refers to the active involvement of families in supporting and
improving patient health and the influensing healthcare decisions. Engagement
shifts the focus from “taking action to improve community health” to “taking
action with the community.” Family engagement at every level of the healthcare
system is conducted without boundaries to improve health, quality, safety, and the
provision of healthcare, including direct care; this is done by considering patient
goals while maintaining the values, respect, and dignity of the family and patient.
Family satisfaction in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Cideres Regional Hospital
in 2025. This study uses and observational research method with a descriptive
correlation research design with a cross sectional approach. The population in
this study was all families of patients treated in the ICU of Cideres Regional
Hospital from January to April, totaling 85 people, a sample of 70 people, 15
people as a backup sample or if there was an error. Data analysis used univariate
analysis and bivariate analysis. The results of the data analysis concluded that (1)
A small portion (24,3%) of family engagement in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of
Cideres Regional Hospital in 2025 was quite good. (2) Less than half (32,9%) of
patient families were quite satisfied in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Cideres
Regional Hospital in 2025. (3) There was a relationship between family
engagement and family satisfaction in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Cideres
Regional Hospital in 2025, p-value = 0,001.
