Abstract
Anxiety is a common psychological disorder experienced by nursing
students, especially when facing internships that require mental preparedness and
clinical skills. One important factor that can influence anxiety levels is self- ef icacy, which is a person's belief in their ability to face certain challenges. This
study aims to determine the relationship between self-ef icacy and anxiety during
internships among sixth-semester students at the Mahardika Institute of
Technology and Health, Cirebon, in 2025. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The
sample size was 86 students, drawn using probability sampling. The instruments
used included a self-ef icacy questionnaire modified from the Hamka scale and
the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSAS) to measure anxiety. Data were
analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Spearman Rho test. The results showed that the majority of students had moderate self-ef icacy
(57%, 66.3%). Meanwhile, the level of anxiety was higher, with 45% (52.3%)
having no anxiety. The statistical test results showed a significant relationship
between self-ef icacy and student anxiety (p-value = 0.001 < α = 0.05), with a
negative relationship of moderate strength (r = -0.408), meaning that the higher
the self-ef icacy, the lower the anxiety felt. The conclusion and recommendation of this study is that there is a
significant negative relationship between self-ef icacy and student anxiety in
facing internships. Educational and psychological interventions are needed to
improve student self-ef icacy, such as clinical skills training, counseling, and the use of simulation-based learning methods.
