Abstract
Anxiety is a vague and diffuse worry, which is related to feelings of
uncertainty and helplessness. The menstrual cycle is a pattern that describes the
distance between the first day of menstruation and the first day of the next
menstruation, the menstrual cycle pattern is said to be normal if it is not less than
21 days and does not exceed 35 days. The purpose of this study was to determine
the relationship between anxiety level and menstrual cycle in adolescents at the
State Junior High School 1 Susukan Lebak, Cirebon Regency.
This type of research is a correlation analysis method with a cross sectional
design. The population of adolescent girls at State Junior High School 1 Susukan
Lebak, Cirebon Regency was 134. In this study, 101 samples were obtained using
simple random sampling. This research instrument used a questionnaire from the
Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). The analysis test used in this study was
Spearman rank.
The results showed that the level of anxiety in the severe category was
39.6% and the normal menstrual cycle was 53.5%. The results of the relationship
analysis using the Spearman rank test between the level of anxiety and the
menstrual cycle in adolescent girls obtained a ρ-value of 0.000 < α 0,01, so there
is a significant relationship between the level of anxiety and the menstrual cycle of
adolescent girls at the State Junior High School 1 Susukan Lebak, Cirebon Regency.
The results of this study are expected that adolescent girls can increase reading and
seek information about menstruation in order to increase knowledge about
menstruation and can reduce the anxiety of adolescent girls towards changes in the
menstrual cycle.
