Abstract

Medical record is a document that contains patient identity data, examination,
treatment, action, and other services that have been given to patients. Each of the main
medical record competencies, one of which is the classification and codification of
disease, one of the complex codes in the ICD is the external cause code. The purpose of
this study was to determine the accuracy of the external cause diagnosis code in traffic
accident cases of inpatients at the Pantura Regional General Hospital M.A Sentot Patrol.
This type of research used is descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The
population used in this study was 427 external cause medical record documents in traffic
accident cases in 2022 at the Pantura Regional General Hospital M.A Sentot Patrol. The
sample used simple random sampling of 81 external cause medical record documents in
traffic accident cases. The instrument used in this study was an observation sheet (check
list sheet).
The results of this study indicate that of the 81 external cause medical record
documents in the traffic accident cases studied, there were 37 (45%) external cause
medical record documents that were accurate and as many as 44 (55%) external cause
medical record documents that were inaccurate.
