Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that is most commonly found in
Cirebon Regency, especially in the working area of Astanalanggar Public Health
Center, where the family’s role is often lacking in addressing transmission
behaviors of Tuberculosis. For example, the family's indifference towards
preventive behavior contributes to a higher risk of TB transmission, such as
inadequate monitoring of medication and a lack of physical and emotional support.
This study aims to determine the relationship between the family’s role and
the transmission behavior of Tuberculosis (TB). The research used a quantitative
approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 56 family members

of TB patients, selected through total sampling. The instrument used was a closed-
ended questionnaire, and data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results

showed a significant relationship between the family’s role and TB transmission
behavior (p-value < 0.05). Families with active roles demonstrated better
preventive behavior. Therefore, it is necessary to increase family health education
and encourage active family involvement in TB control efforts in the community.
