Abstract

Inaccuracies in diagnosis coding can have serious consequences for INA-CBG's.
Coding errors is that in coding the diagnosis of hypertension, hypertension coding has
several special characteristics, including one of which is the use of a combination code
which is accompanied by complications. The aim of this research was to determine the
accuracy of the Hypertension Diagnosis Code of Inpatient Documents at Sumber Waras
Hospital.
The research used a descriptive quantitative with observation methods, the
instrument in this research was a checklist sheet. The sampling technique used random
sampling, totaling 76 medical record documents.
The research results showed that of the 76 medical record documents studied, 35
(46.05%) were in the correct category according to ICD-10 rules while 41 (53.95%) were
in the inappropriate category or did not comply with ICD-10 rules. This was caused by the
lack of understanding and accuracy of the coder in coding hypertension disease with
combinations where officers do not pay attention to the hypertension disease code which
refers to the combination code.
It is recommended that coding officers must be graduates of the D3 Medical Record
qualification and participate in training activities about coding. .
