Abstract

Code determination in cases of the musculoskeletal system must be completed
with a 5th character code which indicates the anatomical location. If the 5th character
code is not completed, it will affect health financing, the quality of the data provided and
the quality of the hospital. Therefore, coders must be careful when coding cases of the
musculoskeletal system. The aim of this research is to determine the completeness of the
5th character code based on ICD-10 in outpatient musculoskeletal system cases at Sour
Waras Hospital, Cirebon Regency.
The type of research used in this research is descriptive quantitative with
observation methods in electronic medical records of musculoskeletal system cases at Sour
Waras Hospital. The instrument in this research is using a checklist sheet. The sampling
technique was using random sampling and the number of samples in this study was 76
electronic medical records.
The results of the research showed that of the 76 electronic medical records
studied, 61 (80.2%) were declared complete in determining the 5th character code and 15
(19.8%) were declared incomplete in determining the 5th character code in system cases.
musculoskeletal.
The determination of the 5th character code in the case of the musculoskeletal
system at Sumber Waras Hospital is not yet 100%, there are still errors when determining
the 5th character code. It is hoped that coders will increase their accuracy and training in
determining the correct code and carry out a coding audit.
