Abstract

The accuracy of the diagnosis code for patients is crucial, as it will impact
the data and information in the report. It also impacts payments billed to health
insurance companies and patients. Pulmonary tuberculosis was a highly contagious
disease. It was caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis and was
transmitted through the air, primarily through coughing or sneezing. The purpose of
this study was to determine the accuracy of the coding of pulmonary TB in inpatients
at KMC Kuningan General Hospital.
The method used in this study was a quantitative research type with a
descriptive approach, the data collection procedure was observation using a checklist
sheet. The population of this study was all medical record documents of Pulmonary TB
patients in 2024 with a total of 76 with a sample of 76 medical record documents of
Pulmonary TB cases using a total sampling technique, where all members of the
population were used as research samples.
The results of the study, obtained from 76 samples of medical records of
pulmonary TB patients, showed that 30 medical records (39.5%) had correct codes
according to ICD-10, and 46 medical records (60.5%) had incorrect codes. Hospitals
should improve the accuracy of medical record analysis and coding processes.
Furthermore, evaluation, improvement, or coding audits are also important to improve
accuracy and consistency in documenting pulmonary tuberculosis diagnoses.
