Abstract
Noise in the workplace is one of the physical hazards that can negatively affect
workers' health, including causing occupational stress. According to the
International Labour Organization (ILO), occupational health and safety is crucial
to improving workers' well-being. Repeated and prolonged noise can disrupt
concentration, reduce productivity, and trigger various mental health problems,
such as stress. This study aims to determine the relationship between noise and the
incidence of occupational stress in workers at PT Arteria Daya Mulia Cirebon City.
The method used in this study was quantitative research with a cross-sectional
design, involving 57 workers as respondents selected by simple random sampling.
Noise data was measured using a Sound Level Meter, while the level of work stress
was measured through a validated questionnaire. The results showed that 64.9% of
workers were exposed to noise above 85 dBA, and 71.9% of workers experienced
stress. Bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test showed a P value of 0.000,
which means there is a significant relationship between noise and the incidence of
occupational stress. This indicates that workers exposed to high noise tend to
experience higher levels of stress compared to those who are not exposed to noise.
The conclusion of this study is that high noise in the work environment contributes
to increased work stress in workers at PT Arteria Daya Mulia. Therefore, it is
necessary to make noise control efforts, such as the addition of silencers, periodic
machine maintenance, and education on the use of personal protective equipment
(PPE) to improve the health and welfare of workers.
